Chun-Liang (Peter) Pan, Principal Investigator
Peter graduated from National Taiwan University with MD and was trained as a clinical neurologist. He then obtain his PhD (neuroscience) from UC Berkeley as a Ministry of Education (Taiwan) Fellow, under the mentorship of Gian Garriga. He did his postdoc training at UC San Francisco with Steve McIntire. Since 2010 he has been at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, National Taiwan University. His favorites include classical music and books by Haruki Murakami and Toyoko Yamazaki. He is especially good at changing diapers for human larvae (that is, babies).

Wai Hou (Victor) Tam, PhD Student, Class 2019
Victor is from Macau. He obtained his BS of Medical laboratory and biotechnology from Chung Shan Medical University and MS of biochemistry and molecular biology from NTU. His hobbies include movie, music, climbing, and gym. He is interested in understanding how worms think by using tricks to study worms' "mind activity".

John grew up in Yun-Lin and graduated from National Taiwan Normal University (BS, life sciences). In addition to C. elegans neurons, John is also very interested in (human) muscles, although Peter told him upfront that "Gym training as an epigenetic enhancer for human muscle bulk" is definitely non-publishable. Disappointed by that (sorry, brother~), he decided to stay and continue as a PhD student. His brilliant graduate work won him the prestigious 王民寧基金會優秀論文獎, one of the highest honors for graduate students in Taiwan, and 科技部千里馬博後獎學金 in 2019.

As a senior high schooler, he is looking to participate in various bio-research opportunities to broaden the horizons in this field before he starts studying in college. Jason has been at New York University since 2021.

Hung Jen Lin is a Changhua-based National Taiwan University medical student. He is currently in the sixth year of medical school and has a profound interest in neuroscience, tennis, and machine learning. He previously did internship in Patrick Hsieh's lab at IBMS, Academia Sinica and the Bioinformatics & Biostatistics Core Lab at NTU Center for Genomic and Precision Medicine. He sees the nematodes as a simple yet intriguing model organism to unravel the mysteries of neurological diseases.

He looked superficially wild-type compared to the old worms in the lab, but later we found that he distinguished himself from the other by having a strong like for hot spicy food. It will be interesting to study some of his TRP channels in the tongue!
